MIAMI (AP) – John Salmons had 30 points, 11 rebounds and three steals tolead Miami to a 73-66 victory over West Virginia Wednesday, giving Hurricanes’coach Perry Clark his 200th victory.

The Hurricanes (15-11, 7-8 Big East) snapped West Virginia’s four-gamewinning streak and have five straight wins over the Mountaineers.

Clark, in his first year with Miami, was 185-145 during 11 years at Tulane.

Chris Moss led the Mountaineers (17-9, 8-7) with 20 points and 10 reboundsand Tim Lyles added 16 points. Calvin Bowman, averaging 18 points, was held toeight points.

Salmons hit a shot from the lane to give Miami a 68-66 lead with 2:06remaining.

Dwayne Wimbley blocked Moss’ shot with 46 seconds left and Michael Simmonswas fouled on the rebound. Simmons made one of two free throws then stole theball from Lyles on West Virginia’s ensuing possession.

Simmons was fouled again and made both free throws. Brooks Berry then misseda three-pointer before Wimbley made two free throws to wrap up the scoring.

An intentional foul by Lyles helped ignite an 11-2 Miami run in whichSalmons scored eight points to give the Hurricanes a 56-48 lead with 10:16remaining. Salmons made 13-of-16 free throws.

West Virginia tied the score at 58-58 with 6:08 left on consecutive layupsby Lionel Armstead and a dunk by Moss.

John Oliver’s 3-pointer at the buzzer capped off a 17-7 Mountaineers’ run togive West Virginia a 38-36 halftime lead.

Simmons’ 3-pointer with 10:20 to play in the first half gave Miami aschool-record 187 for the season, eclipsing the 1992-93 mark. Miami made justtwo of 15 3-pointers in the first half.
