Miami Women's Tennis Storms Past FAU, 5-2.

Coral Gables, FL – The 40th-ranked University of Miami women’s tennis team defeated intra-state rival Florida Atlantic, 5-2, Saturday in the season opener for both schools at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center in Coral Gables, FL.
Seniors Alanna Broderick (St. Andrews, Jamaica) and Katia Bogomolova (Moscow, Russia) both recorded victories in singles and doubles play to lead Miami.
Broderick defeated Gabriela Spear 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and teamed with sophomore Igna deVilliers (Capetown, South Africa) to defeat Spears and Stephanie Beaulieu of FAU, 8-2, at No. 1 doubles.
deVilliers also recorded a victory in singles play knocking off Florida Atlantic’s Michelle Tulman 6-2, 6-2 at No. 6 singles.
Bogomolova defeated Maria Aguirre-Gomez 7-5, 6-4 at No. 3 singles and teamed with junior Marcy Hora (Delray Beach, FL) to up-end the FAU team of Jordan and Burrow, 8-0.
Miami freshman Siehem Bennacer (Algiers, Algeria) rounded out the Hurricanes’ scoring with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Stephanie Beaulieu at No. 5 singles.
Miami returns to action on Friday, February 2 against Barry University beginning at 3 p.m. at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center. Admission is free.
