Women's Tennis Opens The 2001 Season

CORAL GABLES, Fla.–The University of Miami women’s tennis team opens the 2001 season this weekend as they play host to intra-state rival Florida Atlantic on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
The Hurricanes are ranked No. 40 in the nation, according to the WingspanBank.com Collegiate Tennis Rankings released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Miami is also ranked No. 7 in the South Region.
The Hurricanes will be led this year by senior Katia Bogomolova (Moscow, Russia). Bogomolova returns after amassing an 11-20 record in her singles matches last season. She enters the season ranked No. 28 in the South Region.
Freshman Bettina Hafner (Ulm, Germany) enters the season ranked No. 59 in the nation and No. 21 in the South Region after finishing the fall season with a 5-3 singles record.
