Football Continues Practice At The Superdome
Dec. 31, 2000
New Orleans, La. (www.hurricanesports.com) — – The BIG EAST Champion and second-ranked Hurricanes continued preparation for their Nokia Sugar Bowl match-up with the seventh-ranked Florida Gators with an hour and a half practice in shells in the Superdome.
“We had an excellent practice,” said Head Coach Butch Davis. “We are trying to minimize our contact and we are starting to take it easy as the game approaches. This was a very up tempo and fast-paced practice and I am extremely happy with our attitude and intensity.”
Temperatures once again remained in the 30’s in New Orleans on Saturday with a brisk northerly wind making it feel even colder. The weather was the key element to keep Miami indoors at the dome and not at its slated practice site of Tad Gormley Stadium.
Following practice, the Hurricanes were able to remain at the Superdome to watch the New Orleans Saints victory over reigning Super Bowl Champion St. Louis Rams.
Miami and Florida will meet in the Superdome at 8 p.m. Eastern Time on Tuesday, January 2, 2001, with a possible national title on the line for the Hurricanes. The game will be televised live by ABC and can be heard on ESPN Radio and via the Miami Hurricanes Network flagship station on WQAM (560 AM) radio in the Miami area.
