Deem Named USATF Junior National Team Coach

Coral Gables, FL – University of Miami head women’s track coach Amy Deem has been selected by the USATF Track and Field Committee to serve as head coach of the United States Junior National Team that will compete in England and Scotland in August 2001.
Deem is a three-time BIG EAST Coach of the Year selection and has served the last three seasons as the Event Coordinator for Sprints and Hurdles for the USA Track and Field Coaches Education Program.
Entering her eleventh season as head coach of the Hurricanes, Deem has guided 11 student-athletes to 30 All-America honors and six NCAA individual championships. In addition, Deem has coached the NCAA Champion in the 100-meter hurdles in four of the last eight seasons.
Last season Deem extended her streak of consecutive seasons with at least one All-American to nine as Kareen Clarke (triple jump), Natalie Watson (800-meters) and Wyllesheia Myrick (200-meters) all earned All-America honors.
During her tenure the University of Miami has developed into one the elite programs in the BIG EAST. The Hurricanes have won conference titles in two of the last three seasons and have won a total of 37 individual conference titles.
