UM Soccer Downs Stetson 5-1

CORAL GABLES, Fla.–Junior Dee Bass (Parkland, Fla.) scored two goals and assisted teammate Sharon Williams (Hialeah, Fla.) with the game-winning goal in a 5-1 victory over Stetson Friday night at Cobb Stadium.
UM improves to 5-2 on the season, while Stetson falls to 2-3.
The Hurricanes had 23 shots, while the Hatters had no shots in the first half and only five shots in the second half.
The two teams remained scoreless after 45 minutes of play. Freshman Nicole Safran (Harrison City, Penn.) scored the first goal of the game at 53:25, and went on to assist in two more goals.
Williams scored the game-winning goal at 64:25 on an assist from Bass. Freshman Carrie
Ratliff (Atlanta, Ga.) scored UM’s third goal at 65:45 on a double assist from Lisa Gomez (Boca Raton, Fla.) and Safran.
Forward Jackie Catania scored the lone goal for Stetson at 67:15.
Bass rounded out the UM scoring frenzy with two goals at 71:35 and 74:16.
The Hurricanes are back in action Sunday afternoon as they play host to Boston College at 1 p.m. at Cobb Stadium. Admission is free.
