Hurricanes To Compete At FIU Invitational

Coral Gables, FL – The University of Miami men’s and women’s cross country teams will compete at the FIU Invitational this Friday, September 15 at Tamiami Park in Miami, FL.

The women’s race is schedule d to begin at 5 p.m. with the men’s race starting immediately following the conclusion of the women’s competition.

The Hurricanes’ are coming off of a strong showing at the UCF Invitational last weekend in Orlando. Miami senior Shannon Sarabyn (Centreville, VA) took first in the women’s race while junior Jeff Gaulrapp (Baldwinsville, NY) was the top collegiate finisher in the men’s competition.

Sarabyn, Miami’s top finisher five of six races last season, completed the 5,000 meter course in a course-record time of 17:59 to record her sixth career individual title. Junior Jennifer Geroux (Balto, MD) also ran well finishing fourth in a time of 19:11.

Gaulrapp, one of two returning runners from last season, completed the 8,000 meter course in a time of 26:37. Freshman Matt Mulvaney (Worcester, MA), competing in his first collegiate meet, finished tenth (27:49).
