July 28, 2000

Coral Gables, FL – Former University of Miami women’s basketball standout Kym Hope (Hollywood, FL) was added to the WNBA Utah Starzz roster after spending part of the 1999 season on the injured list of the Orlando Miracle.

Hope was the final cut from the Miracle training camp roster in 2000, before being picked up by the Starzz.

“We are extremely happy for Kym,” said UM head coach Ferne Labati. “We hope that she can help her team in the quest for the playoffs.”

During her collegiate career at Miami, Hope was a two-time first team All-BIG EAST selection (1998, 1999) and finished among Miami’s all-time top 10 in 12 different categories, including second in blocked shots (62) and field goal percentage (.526).

During her four year career as a Hurricane, she averaged 12.9 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. She ended her career ranked sixth on the Hurricanes’ all-time scoring list with 1,462 points in her career.

Utah will return to the hardwood this Saturday evening when they host the expansion Indiana Fever at 6 p.m. in the Delta Center.
