Myrick Sets School Record At Olympic Trials

Sacramento, CA – University of Miami All-American Wyllesheia Myrick (Miami Northwestern) posted a school-record time of 23.14 in her 200-meter semifinal heat this weekend at the United States Olympic Team Trials in Sacramento, CA.
Myrick, the 2000 BIG EAST Track Athlete of the Year, broke her own school mark of 23.23 set at the BIG EAST Championships on May 7th. Myrick finished sixth in her heat and missed qualifying for the finals by 11 one-hundredths of a second.
The Olympic Trials marks the end of the track season for Myrick who established six new UM records including indoor marks in the 55-meters (6.90), 60-meters (7.44) and 200-meters (23.69), and outdoor records in the 200-meters (23.14), 400-meters (54.20) and 4×400-meter relay (3:34.19).
Myrick, the USTCA South Region Women’s Outdoor Athlete of the Year, won the 100-meter and 200-meter titles at the 2000 BIG EAST Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Her winning outdoor time of 23.23 in the 200-meters established a BIG EAST Championship record. In addition to her outdoor titles, Myrick is also the defending BIG EAST indoor champion at 200-meters.
Myrick earned All-America honors in the 200-meters at the 2000 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Durham, NC becoming the Hurricanes’ 18th track and field All-American since 1992. Miami has had at least one All-American in each of the last nine seasons.
