June 3, 2000

Durham, NC – University of Miami junior Aaron Moser (Bonne Terre, MO) finished ninth in the decathlon with a score of 7,273 points to earn All-America honors at the NCAA Track and Field Championships in Durham, NC.

California’s Bevan Hart won the event with 8,002 points.

Moser is the first decathlete in Miami history to earn All-America honors and the Hurricanes’ first All-American since Davian Clarke (400-meters) in 1998. Moser’s performance marks the Hurricanes’ 12th track All-American in the last nine years.

“My goal coming into the competition was to take home All-America honors so I’m very happy I was able to accomplish that goal,” said Moser. “I didn’t perform as well as I would have liked today but overall I’m happy with my performance.”

Moser, the three-time BIG EAST Champion and conference record holder, set five personal-records over the two-day competition including the long jump (23-00.75), high jump (6-04.00), 400-meters (50.34), discus (140-02.00) and 1,500-meters (4:53.97).

CBS will replay the NCAA Championships this Sunday, June 4 from 1-3 p.m.
