Game Five Postgame Notes

Florida International

*** With the win, Florida International improves to 42-19 and 2-1 in regionalplay.

*** Florida International advances to Sunday’s championship game (game 6,1:00 p.m.) vs. Miami. In the game, FIU will be the home team and Miami thevisitor. If necessary, game 7 will be played 45 minutes after the conclusionof game 6.

*** This marks the first time that Florida International has ever advanced tothe finals of a NCAA Division I regional contest. Moreover, it marked thefirst time FIU has ever won two games in NCAA regional play.

*** The shutout marked the first post-season shutout in NCAA Division Iregional play for the Golden Panthers. The other shutout came in 1980, a 5-0win over Valdosta State in NCAA Division II play.

Florida Atlantic

***With the loss, Florida Atlantic falls to 43-19 and 1-2 in regional play.The defeat eliminates FAU from tournament play.

*** The three hits marked the lowest hit total of the season for FloridaAtlantic. The previous low was four hits vs. Bethune-Cookman, 4/12, BostonCollege, 3/10)

***This marked the second time this season that FAU was shutout. The othershutout came vs. Bethune-Cookman, 2-0 on 4/12).

*** Right fielder Zack Roper extended his hit streak to 14 games.

*** Shortstop Tommy Murphy’s 18-game win streak was halted.
