Women's Track Star Kareen Clarke Third At Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – All-American Kareen Clarke (Lithonic, GA)finished third in the triple jump with a leap of 12.90 meters (42-04.00) atthe 106th Penn Relays Carnival in Philadelphia, PA.
Clarke, who is ranked second in the nation in the event, finishedbehind Althea Williams of the University of Toronto (13.73m) and LSU’sKeisha Spencer (13.64m). Spencer is currently the No. 1 ranked triple jumperin the nation.
The event boasted some of the nation’s top ranked triple jumpersincluding No. 6 Christine Brown (West Virginia), No. 7 DeAnne Davis (NorthCarolina), No. 12 Bianca Rockett (LSU) and No. 14 Sherlane Armstrong (NorthCarolina State).
Miami concludes competition with the 4×400-meter relay championshipon Saturday at 5:55 p.m. The Hurricanes, ranked 15th in the nation, willface some of the nation’s top ranked relays including No. 2 Texas, No. 3South Carolina, No. 5 Rice, No. 9 Georgetown and No. 26 Florida.
