Moss Breaks School Record at Texas Relays

Austin, TX – Freshman sensation Adrienne Moss (Miami Southridge) finished second in the shot put with a school-record toss of 14.60 meters (47-11.00) while junior Wyllesheia Myrick (Miami Northwestern) and the 4×400-meter relay advanced to Saturday’s finals at the 73rd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, TX.
Moss, who set UM records in the shot put and discus during the indoor season, broke her own UM outdoor shot put record (44-09.25) by over three feet. Her toss gives her the top throw in the BIG EAST this season.
Myrick, competing in the 100-meters for the first time this season, won her heat in a time of 11.58 to advance to Saturday’s final at 3:20 p.m. (CT). Myrick also anchored the women’s 4×400-meter relay as it also advanced to the finals with a time of 3:39.09.
The relay, which consists of sophomore Jenise Winston (League City, TX), freshman Saraque Whittaker (Ft. Lauderdale-St. Thomas Aquinas), junior All-America Natalie Watson (Coral Springs) and Myrick, currently ranks fifth in the nation.
Saturday’s 4×400-meter final, scheduled for 4:20 p.m. (CT), boasts six of the top-10 relays in the nation. Joining Miami will be No. 1 Texas, No. 3 LSU, No. 6 Florida State, No. 7 Arizona State and No. 9 Texas Tech.
Also competing Saturday will be All-America Kareen Clarke (Lithonic, GA) in the triple jump. Clarke, who ranks second in the nation in the triple jump, will face a formidable field including six of the top 13 ranked jumpers in the nation.
