4x400-Meter Relay Takes First At Florida Relays

Gainesville, FL – The 4×400-meter relay of sophomore Jenise Winston (League City, TX), freshman Saraque Whittaker (Ft. Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas), freshman Jamillah Wade (Philadelphia, PA) and junior Natalie Watson (Coral Springs) finished first in an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 3:38.19 to highlight the final day of competition at the 57th Annual Coca-Cola Florida Relays in Gainseville, FL.
In addition to the relay, the Hurricanes had six student-athletes record individual top-10 finishes including All-Americans Caldreuis Lesley (Anderson, SC) and Watson. Lesley finished fifth in the men’s 110-meter hurdles (14.15) while Watson took ninth in the women’s 1,500-meters (4:34.32).
Senior Danika Dodds (Coral Gables) took second in theInvitational Women’s 800-meters (2:07.46).
In the women’s 400-meters, Whittaker took seventh with a time of 54.35. The time ranks as thethird fastest in Miami history and was just 15 tenths of a second off the UM record.
Miami also did well in the 400-meter hurdles with Wade finishing fourth (1:00.19) and junior Rashiela Ruddocktaking seventh (1:03.65).
The Hurricanes return to action on Saturday, April 1 when they host theMiami Gatorade Invitational at Cobb Stadium in Coral Gables.
