Hurricanes Kickoff Spring Practice

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami football team openedspring practice with a two and a half hour workout in light pads and helmetson Wednesday afternoon at the Greentree Practice Facility on the UM campus.
Following pre-practice warm-ups, the team broke off into positiongroups. The Hurricanes then moved into seven-on-seven drills and closed outthe practice with one-on-one drills.
Davis addressed the fact that there will be fierce competition forall the spots on the Hurricane roster.
“There are less than two or three guys who will absolutely bestarters next year. Everybody else has to go back to work and earn theiropportunity to play.”
Davis later talked about the development of sophomore quarterbackEthenic Sands.
“Ethenic did a nice job, he knows the formations and understands theoffense. He had some success throwing the ball today.”
Davis also discussed the need for depth at every position.
“We learned a valuable lesson last year because of suspensions andinjuries. We are going to make sure our second team guys are as prepared toplay as our first team guys.”
