Miami Spring Football Practice Starts
March 7, 2000
CORAL GABLES, FL – The University of Miami football team will begin spring practice on Wednesday, March 8, at 3 p.m. at the Greentree Practice Facility on the Coral Gables campus.
The Hurricanes return 14 starters from last year’s 15th-ranked squad which finished the 1999 season with a 28-13 victory over Georgia Tech in the Gator Bowl, and look to be among the nation’s elite. All-BIG EAST first-team selection wide receiver Santana Moss returns, along with All-BIG EAST second-team selections running back James Jackson, defensive lineman Damione Lewis, linebacker Dan Morgan, and defensive backs Al Blades, Ed Reed and Mike Rumph.
“I think this is an extraordinarily important spring practice,” said Coach Butch Davis. “It’s as important as any spring practice we’ve had in the six years that I’ve been here.”
This week’s practices are open to the media and the general public. Admission is free.
The 2000 spring football calendar continues on Thursday and Friday, beginning at 3 p.m. at the Greentree Practice Facility.
