Watson, Myrick Shine at Nike Fast Times

Gainesville, FL – Junior Natalie Watson (Coral Springs) broke her own school-record in the 800-meters while junior Wyllesheia Myrick (Miami Northwestern) set the school-record in the 55-meters at the Nike Fast Times Invitational in Gainesville, FL.

Watson, who entered the meet ranked 13th in the nation in the 800-meters, won event with a time of 2:07.42. The time is the sixth fastest in the nation and automatically qualifies her for the NCAA Indoor Track and Championships in Fayetteville, AR (March 10-11). Senior Danika Dodds (Coral Gables) finished second to Watson with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 2:09.07.

Myrick, who ranks fourth in the nation in 200-meters and 30th in the country in the 60-meters, finished third in the 55-meters with a school-record time of 6.90 breaking the two-year old record of 6.92 set by Karen Waite in 1998. Her time provisionally qualifies her for the NCAA Championships. Myrick has already automatically qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships in the 200-meters.

Others running well included sophomore Sharianne Lawson (Palm Beach Lakes) who ran an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 7.83 in the 55-meter hurdles.
