Baseball Hosts CW Post In Three-Game Series

Coral Gables, FL – The University of Miami baseball team (11-6), ranked No. 9 nationally, will host CW Post (0-1) in a three-game series this weekend at Mark Light Stadium on the UM campus.
Friday’s first pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m., with FoxSports Net carrying the television broadcast. WACC 830 AM will air Friday and Saturday’s games in Spanish, while student station WVUM 90.5 FM will carry all three games over the weekend. Saturday is also scheduled for 7 p.m., while Sunday’s contest is at 1 p.m.

The Hurricanes are led offensively by freshman shortstop Kevin Howard, who has a team-high .395 batting average a team-best 10-game hitting streak. UM will be without the services of staff ace pitcher David Gil (3-0), who is recovering from a broken nose. Sophomore Brian Walker (2-1) will get the start on Friday night. Walker leads all starters with a 0.90 ERA and has won his past two decisions over South Florida and Eastern Michigan.
Miami has won 14 consecutive three-game series and 31 of its last 32. At Mark Light Stadium, UM has won 37 of its last 38 three-game series. The Hurricanes have played one three-game series in 2000, a three-game sweep of South Florida.
