Myrick sets UM record

SYRACUSE, NY – Junior Wyllesheia Myrick set a UM record in the 60-meters (7.44) and also provisionally qualify for the NCAA Championships.
Myrick also advanced to the finals in the 200-meter dash (24.08), as she finished with the fastest time in the preliminary heats. Sophomore Jenise Winston (400-meter), senior Danika Dodds (500-meter), freshman Saraque Whittaker (500-meter), sophomore Sharianne Lawson (60-meter high hurdles), junior Natalie Watson (800-meter), and freshman Patricia Pearson (800-meter) all advanced to the Sunday finals. The Hurricanes scored their points behind the efforts of freshman pole-vaulter Wendy Pedley, who finished tied for eighth, and the distance medley team, that finished in sixth.
The women are in 13th with 3.5 points, after one day of competition.
The championships will continue through Feb. 20.
