Baseball Falls To North Carolina 9-0

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – The University of Miami baseball team (2-2) was defeated by North Carolina (3-0), 9-0, in the final game of the ACC/Disney Baseball Blast at Disney’s Wide World of Sports.
The Hurricanes suffered back-to-back shut out losses for the first time since the 1975 season. On Saturday, UM lost to Clemson 4-0.
The game with UNC was scoreless through four and a half innings, before the Tar Heels put two runs on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth. UNC would go on to score its nine total runs over the final four innings.
Tom Farmer, in his first start of the season, took his first loss. Farmer went 5.2 innings, allowed six hits, four runs – but one earned. The Hurricane defense allowed four errors to put themselves behind late in the game.
Miami will take on the Florida Gators next, Friday and Saturday, February 4-5 at Mark Light Stadium. SportsChannel Florida will air both games begininng at 7 p.m. WQAM 560 AM will also carry both games, as well as WVUM student Radion 90.5 FM. WACC 830 AM, the Hurricanes’ Spanish Broadcast Network, will carry Saturday’s game.
