Baseball Hosts Barry Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Coral Gables, FL – The University of Miami baseball team (4-5) will host cross-town neighbor Barry University (2-9), Tuesday, February 15 at 7:00 p.m. at Mark Light Baseball Stadium on the UM campus.
The Hurricanes, who dropped both games at Gainesville this past weekend, enter the game with the Buccaneers ranked 13th by Baseball America and 12th by Collegiate Baseball.
UM holds a perfect 15-0 record against Barry in the all-time series dating back to the 1985 season. Last season, UM defeated Barry, 8-3, in the 1999 season-opener at Mark Light.
The Hurricanes will start junior right-handed pitcher Tom Farmer (0-2, 2.79 ERA) on the mound. Farmer garnered decisions in UM’s losses to North Carolina (9-0) and Florida Atlantic (7-2). On the season, Farmer has pitched 9.2 innings with 12 hits, seven runs (three earned), three walks and three strikeouts.
Offensively, UM is led by talented freshman infielders Kevin Mannix and Kevin Howard.Mannix, who made his first career start at first base against Florida on February 13, went 2-4 from the plate, including a two-RBI double in the second inning and a three-run home run in the third. He leads the team with a .625 batting average, 1.250 slugging percentage and .667 on-base percentage.
Howard, who started both games at shortstop at Florida, totaled two hits, one run scored, two RBI and four walks over the two games. He places second on the team with a .364 batting average.
Following Barry, the Hurricanes host the University of South Florida in a three-game weekend series at Mark Light Stadium.
