Baseball Falls to Florida 20-11

Gainesville, FL – The University of Miami baseball team (4-5) dropped the second game of its two-game series at Florida (5-3), 20-11, as the Gators took the two-game sweep over the Hurricanes in Gainesville.
Miami and Florida split the 2000 season series, as the Hurricanes swept Florida in two games in Coral Gables, February 4-5. Florida has now won 10 consecutive over Miami in Gainesville since the 1996 season, while the Hurricanes own a 10-game streak over Florida in Coral Gables since that 1996 season.
Florida jumped out quick with three runs in the first inning off starter Troy Roberson. Miami answered with seven runs over the next two innings for the 7-3 UM lead.Following Roberson’s departure after 3.1 innings of action, UF would score 13 runs over the fourth and fifth innings, including an eight-run fourth, to pull away from the Hurricanes. UM reliever Brian Walker (0-1) took the loss for UM after loading the bases upon his entry.
Miami scored four runs in the eighth inning.
Miami will return to action, Tuesday, February 15 at 7:00 p.m. against Barry University at Mark Light Stadium.
