Indianapolis, IN – Freshman Adrienne Moss (Miami Southridge) broke her own school-record in the shot put and the 4×400-meter relay team provisionally qualified for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships to highlight competition at the Cannon IV Classic in Indianapolis, IN.

Moss, who has broken the school shot put record three times this season, finished third with a toss of 14.51 meters (47-07.25).

The 4×400-meter relay of junior Wyllesheia Myrick (Miami Northwestern), freshman Jamilla Wade (Philadelphia, PA), freshman Patricia Pearson (Jacksonville, FL) and junior Natalie Watson (Coral Springs) finished third in a time of 3:41.41 and provisionally qualified for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships (March 10-11) in Fayatteville, AR.

The Hurricane’s distance relay also set a school record finishing eighth in a time of 11:54.58.

Freshman Saraque Whittaker (Ft. Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas) recorded the fastest time in the 400-meters by a Hurricane this season (55.52). Whittaker finished ninth and missed breaking the 12 year old UM record set by Gloria Ward (55.50) in 1988 by two one-hundredths of a second.

The event is the final tune-up for the Hurricanes prior to next weekend’s BIG EAST Indoor Track and Field Championships (February 19-20) in Syracuse, NY.
