Baseball vs. Florida Atlantic POSTPONED
Feb. 7, 2000
Coral Gables, FL – The Defending National Champion University of Miami Hurricanes (4-2), ranked No. 7 in the latest Baseball America poll, will host Florida Atlantic (2-2) Wednesday, February 9 at 7 p.m. at Mark Light Stadium on the UM campus. The game was previously scheduled for Tuesday night, but was pushed to Wednesday due to inclement weather.
The Hurricanes, who swept then-No. 18 Florida in two games at Mark Light this past weekend, will start right-handed pitcher Tom Farmer (0-1) on the mound. Farmer, with an ERA of 0.00, started in UM’s 9-0 loss to North Carolina at the ACC/Disney Baseball Blast on January 30, giving up six hits in 5.2 innings and four runs – all unearned. FAU will start senior right-handed pitcher Dan Jackson (1-0), who has a 4.50 ERA following FAU’s 12-9 win over Brigham Young in Tempe, AZ.
Miami and FAU will meet for the 37th time in the all-time series dating back to the 1982 season. The Hurricanes hold a 32-4 advantage in the series, including 14 consecutive wins. The last loss to the Owls came in the 1993 season, 2-0. Miami is undefeated against FAU (14-0) during the Jim Morris era (1994-present).
Following Florida Atlantic, the Hurricanes travel to Gainesville for two games against the Florida Gators at Perry Field-McKethan Stadium. The Hurricanes will look to snap an eight-game slide to the Gators in Gainesville.
