MIAMI (AP) – Miami held Georgetown to a season-low 26.5 percent shootingfrom the field and Johnny Hemsley scored 17 points to lead the Hurricanes to a77-55 victory over the Hoyas Monday.

Vernon Jennings added 15 points and seven assists and John Salmons scored 10to help the Hurricanes to their sixth straight Big East victory.

Miami (15-8, 8-2) moves into a tie for second place in the conference withSeton Hall, one game behind Syracuse.

It was Miami’s most lopsided win over Georgetown in the teams’ 26 meetings.

Ruben Boumtje Boumtje led the Hoyas (12-10, 3-7) with 15 points and 13rebounds, but had six turnovers. Kevin Braswell added 11 points for Georgetown,which has lost four of six, and five straight to the Hurricanes in Miami.

Miami forced Georgetown into 9-of-34 shooting in the first half.Georgetown’s shooting was no better in the second half, when the Hoyas alsomade only 9 of 34 shots.

Georgetown’s previous season-low field-goal percentage was 28.8 in a 61-59win over Providence on Feb. 1. The Hoyas made only 2 of 17 three-pointattempts.

Miami’s Paulo Coelho’s 18-footer capped off an 18-6 second-half burst,giving the Hurricanes a 56-34 lead with 11:17 remaining.

Tied at 6-6, Mario Bland scored six points in a 16-2 Miami run.

Anthony Perry’s assist followed by a 3-pointer brought Georgetown within29-21, but a sensational pass by Jennings set up a dunk by Leroy Hurd. Hemsleymade a running 3-pointer with two seconds left to give Miami a 38-26 lead athalftime.
