Baseball Opens 2000 Season with Annual Alumni Game

Coral Gables, FL – The Defending National Champion University of Miami baseball team will open its 2000 season with an exhibition against the Hurricane alumni team on Friday, January 21 at 7 p.m. at Mark Light Stadium on the UM campus. Admission is free to the Alumni Game, which will be broadcast live on WVUM 90.5 FM.

Major Leaguers Danny Graves (Pitcher, Cincinnati Reds), Dave Berg (Infielder, Florida Marlins) and Orlando Palmeiro (Outfielder, Anaheim Angels) highlight the alumni squad.

The 2000 Hurricanes, ranked No. 5 in both the Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball preseason polls, are led by preseason All-Americans David Gil, Manny Crespo, Kevin Brown and Vince Vazquez.

UM opens its regular season against Lynn on Wednesday, January 26 at 7 p.m. at Mark Light Stadium. Call 1-800-GO-CANES for season and individual game ticket information.
