2020 Commencement Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, all graduates will need to claim their ticket for the ceremony.
Tickets are reserved through the Hurricanes Ticket Office Students Portal.
To safely accommodate your guests and others, the number of guest tickets is four (4) per graduate.
There are no extra tickets or a waitlist available.
Yes, every guest above the age of two (2) needs a ticket. Tickets are available from Wednesday, October 23rd through Friday, November 20th. Graduates are responsible for forwarding tickets to their guests.
They will be Reserved seating. Seat Locations will be displayed when the tickets are delivered via your UM email.
All tickets are mobile tickets and will be delivered to each student via their UM email. Graduates are responsible for forwarding tickets to their guests. Each guest must have a ticket. Ticket Transfer will be available on December 7th if you prefer to send your guest tickets to multiple groups.
Step 1: Visit the Hurricanes Ticket Office Students Portal and Log In to your Student MyAccount
Step 2: Select ‘Fall 2020 Commencement’
Step 3: Click ‘Find Tickets’ for the Ceremony that is displayed. If your correct ceremony is not displayed please call the Hurricanes Ticket Office at 1-800-GO-CANES or canestix@miami.edu.
Step 4: Select your 1 ticket for yourself and up to 4 tickets for your guests
Step 5: Click ‘Add to Cart’ then “CHECKOUT’ then ‘Place Your Order’. If you do not Place Your Order and do not receive a confirmation email then you did not order. You must complete the process until you see the ‘Order Confirmation’ page and receive a confirmation email.
Step 6: On December 7th your tickets will be emailed to you. Download your ticket to your digital wallet and forward the email with the guest tickets to your guests.
Ticket Transfer will be available on December 7th.
Step 1: Log In to your Students MyAccount.
Step 2: Select your ceremony which you ordered for.
Step 3: Click “Transfer” under the seats you wish to transfer.
Step 4: Type in the mobile phone number of the person you wish to transfer the tickets to.
Step 5: The recipient will receive a link to login or create an account in order to accept the transfer.
Step 6: Once the transfer has been accepted, you will receive an email confirmation that they are ready to enter the gates!
After the tickets have been emailed on December 7th, if the ticket delivery email can’t be recovered, go to your MyAccount page on your desktop and re-issue the tickets. You can also download or transfer the tickets on your phone within your MyAccount. Video tutorials can be found at http://miamihurricanes.com/tickets/mobiletickets. If you or any of your guests lose or forget your mobile ticket on the day of the ceremony, please visit the Hurricanes Ticket Office at the South Box Office. Please have your C# & photo ID ready.
No. All tickets must be downloaded to an Apple or Android smartphone and displayed on that device for entry. Mobile delivery tickets that are printed out will not be able to be used for entry.
It is recommended that all tickets be transferred to the recipient instead of texting a screenshot. Screenshots can lead to scanning issues on the day of the ceremony. Transferring is now easier than ever by only having to enter in a mobile phone number.
Yes. You may have all the tickets on one device. Although, you will have to scan all the tickets for each person upon arrival, so it is recommended you transfer the tickets to each attendee.
All that is needed is for one person you are attending with to have a smartphone to scan in all of the tickets. If you do not attend with anyone who has a digital wallet, please visit the Hurricanes Ticket Office on the day of the ceremony.
If your phone dies on the day of the ceremony, please visit the Hurricanes Ticket Office on the South side of the venue. Please have your C# & photo ID ready.

Yes, please email the Office of Commencement at Commencement@miami.edu with your name and C#. Please note, any late students who need cap and gown will have to pick up cap and gown on the day of the ceremony from the extras inventory, while supplies last. All graduates must wear regalia in order to participate in the commencement ceremony.
All attendees and graduates are required to wear a mask at all times. Students will be individually physically distanced from each other throughout the ceremony. Guests will be assigned seats that are physically distanced in pods or groups from other guests.
